I don’t have a freakin’ clue what to do with it but appreciate the salesman explaining all of the features… while pretending not to notice the glazed look in my eyes!!!
I’m two classes into my very first photography course as part of the Graphic Design program at NSCC and I’m really not too sure what I’m doing.
So far I’ve taken this…
and this…
And had a fair bit of fun in the process.
I wasn’t in class on Friday to find out what the others photos looked like, but I have a feeling I was the only one playing with children’s toys. Mostly because I’m the only one with children!
I’m changing aperture or shutter speed or distance or something that makes things in front clear and things in back fuzzy and things that move blurry and…. actually I really don’t know what I’m doing.
All I know is last week, the remote controlled helicopter repeatedly slammed into me while I tried to get the perfect picture and much as I yelled, Spiderman couldn’t seem to get control of the unruly gadget.
Or his laughter.
Tonight I have to photograph an image with foreground and background while keeping everything in focus and I’m once again using the multitude of farm toys that reside in my upstairs hall. I set up jumps, fences, ponies, a horse truck and a blacksmith and had a whack of fun making the horses buck and neigh… but I’m not entirely sure I got the shot.
On top of that… I got stepped on by a goat, was almost bit by an ornery mare and got a carpet burn on my elbow!
At the moment, I’m taking a wee break to recharge the batteries… both the cameras AND mine… but once charged, I have to take a picture of something in motion that looks like it’s not in motion at all. Oddly enough, that sounds like my brain. I have no idea where to start so I’m considering climbing the ladder, extending a tennis ball from the ceiling using fishing line and making it look like I took the perfect photo of a ball suspended in the air!
Then again, with ladders and tools involved, I should probably just try to figure the camera out as one injury per night… is quite enough.
