Years ago, someone came to my door when they were doing a little fundraising and as our pot-bellied Valley Bulldog, Pumpkin, went sauntering to the door to greet her, the woman loudly and confusingly exclaimed “Is it a Pig? Or is it a Dog?”
We laughed a lot over that moment as she truly wondered if my dog was a pig!
Now, with Pumpkin gone, Zucchini has taken over our household and while she’s not near as overweight as Pumpkin was, she is, most definitely, a PIG…made evident from ONE VACUUMING with the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Vacuum.
I’m not kidding, Dyson sent me this vacuum and at first, I was going to decline the offer as I’ve a central vac in my house but then…I remembered that my house is for sale and in the new place, I might need a vacuum. To test things out, I ran it over a 20-year-old rug that was seemingly clean…but I’m pretty sure it vacuumed up Zukes AND Pumpkin’s fur and now it has me wondering it I’m the one who, in fact, is the pig!
I’m deep in the middle of a home makeover so yesterday, I was kind of joyous to be able to put one room back together again after it received a fresh coat of paint. With Zucchini’s help, we unpacked the new Dyson Ball Animal 2 (that I have to say, was packed in that box pretty secure…and a good thing too, as Dyson ships straight to your home).
(Side note: Zuke posing for photos for dog treats is an absolute hoot!)
The vacuum went together in three easy steps as I attached part A to B, then B to C and C to D.
And VOILA (which is French Bulldog for “that was easy!)
In no time, I was vacuuming the carpet that, while I knew needed to be vacuumed…was relatively clean.
EXCEPT NO IT WASN’T!
IT WAS FILTHY! PIGGISHLY FILTHY and filled with dog hair and dust and durt that I had NO IDEA was living inside the rug!
I took the time to have a bit of a discussion with Zuke wondering what we’d do about her fur, and she didn’t seem too interested in the discussion.
Furthermore, I showed her the Pet Groom Tool that comes with the vacuum and while I thought it was ingenious…she wasn’t as impressed.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 has my vote for awesome vacuum!
Some of the finer points:
- Radial Root Cyclone™ Technology helping to remove more dust and allergens from the home.
- Super strong suction.
- Self-adusting cleaner head for different floor types to seal in suction.
- Ball™ Technology to steer into difficult places with the turn of the wrist.
- Designed for homes with pets.
- Instant-release wand that stretches 4.6 meters to clean stairs and hard-to-reach places.
- Whole machine HEPA filtration.
- Groom tool to remove loose hair directly from your dog.
- Hygienic bin emptying at the push of a button.
I’m about to grab my new fancy purple vacuum and head upstairs to vacuum the carpets…but I really don’t need to test another room to know my old vacuum sucks.
But this one sucks a whole lot more!

If you’re looking for a new vacuum, I highly recommend the Dyson Ball Animal 2. If you’re looking for a new pet, I’m kind of smitten with Valley Bulldogs…especially ones named after vegetables.
