The holidays for me, kick off in style when the folks from President’s Choice throw their annual #PCInsidersCollection Holiday Party. Not only do we get together with blogger and media friends, but we’re wined and dined while sampling some of the most wonderful new products, learning about upcoming promotions and hearing about some fabulous Loblaws partnerships.
Along with a lovely package filled with #PCInsidersCollection goodies, this year we went home with beautiful Poinsettias grown right here in Brookfield, Nova Scotia at the Forest Glen Greenhouses (they provide Pointsettias for all of the Atlantic Superstores throughout the Maritimes). We also learned about GoodLeaf Farms from Truro, Nova Scotia, who are focused on producing local and fresh greens (without pesticides) using efficient vertical farming technology (they sent us home with some wonderful Micro Kale). And, we met with the folks from Shoppers Drug Mart who showcased some of the fabulous items they had in store along with my favourite, the Colorista Spray from Loreal…a sprarkly spray to glam up your holiday hairstyle!
We ate and drank…all from the new #PCInsidersCollection that’s broken down into four different categories, Brunch, Mingle, Dinner and Dessert (so basically, we ate ALL THE MEALS in one evening!!)
For Brunch…I was rather taken with the PC® Brioche Loaf and have plans on making a wonderful Sparkling Pomegranate Citrus Brunch Punch this year complete with frozen PC® Pomegranate Arils (in fact, I’ll likely add them to every drink this holiday season.) For those who Mingle…there were plenty of choices! I was especially taken with the Smoked Cheddar and Ghost Pepper Bacon Dip and will DEFINITELY be making it this holiday season (likely more than once!) Visit My Life in the Sun for more details on the Mingle products.
For Dessert…OH MY GOODNESS the PC® Candy Cane Cheesecake Lollipops and the PC® Candy Cane Ice Cream…and really, who are we kidding, I was taken with every one of the desserts available! Visit DIY Passion to hear all about the #PCInsidersCollection Dessert products.
For Dinner…do I have a few awesome products to share with you!!!
For starters, the Hickory-Smoked Spiral Ham is DELICIOUS! Made with a Brown Sugar Glaze, this was an absolute treat and will be the perfect meal to have over the holidays. We typically cook BOTH a ham and turkey during the season…and this ham is a favourite.
As a treat, President’s Choice sent us home with the brand new PC® Enamelled Cast Iron Dutch Oven that will surely get lots of use around my place!
Accompanying the ham, the PC® Baby Brussels Sprouts (sauteed and served mixed with Italian Diced Pancetta and Sage Bread Crumbs) were TO DIE FOR and the Butternut Squash and Bacon Scalloped Potatoes were DEE-LISH…but the very best of all…by far…Gnocchi with Creamy Gorgonzola Sauce!!!! OH.EM.GEE it was AMAZEBALLS and definitely a new dish to add to your holiday meal this year! Plus, it’s my kind of recipe because it’s EASY and ready in fifteen minutes!
Gnocchi with Creamy Gorgonzola Sauce
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup (175 mL) 35% whipping cream
- 3/4 cup (175 mL) PC® Blue Menu Chicken Broth
- Pinch (0.5 mL) each freshly ground black pepper and ground nutmeg
- 1/3 cup (75 mL) crumbled PC® Black Label Gorgonzola Dolce Soft Blue-Veined Cheese or PC® Blue Cheese
- 1 pkg (350 g) PC® Gnocchi Potato Dumplings
- 1/4 cup (50 mL) grated PC® Splendido Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese
- 2 tbsp (25 mL) chopped fresh chives
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat cream, broth, pepper and nutmeg in large nonstick skillet over medium heat; bring to a simmer.
2. Add Gorgonzola cheese; cook, stirring constantly, until melted and mixture is thick enough to coat back of spoon, 3 to 4 minutes.
3. Stir in gnocchi; return to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until gnocchi are heated through, 2 to 3 minutes. Sprinkle with Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and chives. Serve immediately.
ENJOY!!! It’s really that easy and SUPER TASTY!!
