The holidays are a time to relax…spend some time with the family enjoying home-made cookies and your favourite holiday shows. Time for hot chocolate…with Baileys, relaxing in PJs, big breakfasts and board games. It’s a time to re-group after a busy year…pull each other in and hold on tight.
It’s family togetherness…and love.
We’re busy. Everyone I know is run off their feet as we live in this fast-paced, hurried, busy time. No one seems ready and yet, Christmas is mere days away.
My plan this weekend was to find some time to bake…make the kids’ favourite chocolate chip cookies, some shortbreads, a few gingerbread men, a few dozen peanut butter balls and a cheese cake or two. But I’m still finishing a bit of work, finalizing my Christmas list and pulling the house together. It’s a little more chaotic than it’s been in other years and it truly doesn’t look like the baking will happen.
I spent the day yesterday with The Tall Blonde ticking a few items off our list…checking it twice. As I arrived home, bags in hand from a productive day and less than an hour to get ready for one of two holiday parties I was invited to…both happening on the same night…I noticed a “Christmas Tin” I’d not seen before…sitting on my counter.
I opened it to discover the most amazing cookies!
Gingerbread, macaroons, fudge, short breads and peanut butter balls.
It seems, Spiderman’s best friend Laura had sent them over…a gift…far more precious than she could possibly imagine!
I am blessed. Surrounded by family and friends I adore, a dog who makes me smile, kids who light up my life and their friends…who are such an important part of what makes my life so fabulous.
The weekend is over, the tree is up, the house is clean, I’ve presents to wrap and I’m about to put my feet up and enjoy a Christmas show on Netflix while enjoying a cup of tea and a wonderful plate of cookies…made by a beautiful young woman…I simply adore.
